Hi, there! My name is Cindy and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching since 1983! My passion is helping others and I love teaching. 

I am a certified Yoga and Tai Chi/Qigong Instructor as well as an accomplished musician, earning a Bachelor of Music Education degree. I teach both group as well as private lessons in Yoga, Tai Chi/Qigong, Breath Techniques, Flexibility Training and Private Clarinet lessons.

You will find me approachable, comfortable being around and I like making lessons fun. I am an optimistic person and with over 35 years teaching I have a great deal of approaches I can use to get you to the next level.

The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the United States of America, Inc. was incorporated as a national charitable organization in 1989. The Society was founded to preserve and promote the Taoist tradition of the dual cultivation of body and mind. In keeping with Master Moy&rsquo;s vision of compassion and service to others, all instructors are nationally accredited volunteers, and most of the administrative work is done by volunteers.

John Phillip Sousa Award

Yoga Alliance approved 300 hour intensive program. Pre-requisite is 200 hour certification. This is an advanced yoga training that deepens one's knowledge of yoga philosophy, anatomy of yoga postures, how to teach different styles of yoga (yin, restorative, adaptive, hatha, vinyasa), as well as how to teach students with limitations.

Yoga Alliance approved 250 hour intensive program with Master Yogi Amrit Desai. In this program you live at the Amrit Ashram for a total of 20 days (2-10 day visits). You lead the life of a yogi while deepening your practice. This includes anatomy, philosophy, pranayama, meditation, proper alignment of asanas, how to assist students, and how to instruct students with special needs (pregnancy, high blood pressures, etc.).

I focus on alignment making sure you are moving in and out of postures correctly as well as while you are in the posture. This prevents injury and will allow you to get the most benefit from the practice.

I also teach pranayama (breath work), philosphy (Niyamas, Yamas, etc.), meditation and inward focus.

Cindy is a great teacher who takes the time to really get to know her student. She determine's what the student is trying to accomplish with the training so that she can adapt the training to fit the student.

I highly recommend Cindy as an instructor. Her knowledge, patience, positivity, feedback, and teaching style were exactly what I was looking for. Trying something new can be intimidating and she made me feel comfortable right from the start.

I've taken my initial three lessons with Cindy and have been very impressed. She's shown me some dynamic stretching techniques that were new to me, and has explained everything very clearly. I'm already seeing some clear improvement in the range of motion in my shoulders, although stretching gains generally take a while to see. Will definitely be taking more lessons!

Dear Yogi's -- think you have mastered Sun Salutation A? As a certified Yoga Teacher I have seen many a yogi with misalignment when doing Sun Salutations. 

In this 30 minute lesson I breakdown each of the 7 postures in Sun Salutation A (Mountain, Forward Fold, Half Lift, Plank, Chatarunga, Upward Dog and Downward Dog) and teach you how to do each posture correctly. I also teach you how to modify each of the postures. 

At the end of the lesson we do 4 rounds of Sun Salutations and end with a short meditation lying on your back in Savasana.

Mastering Sun Salutation A

This 75 minute yoga class is for intermediate yogi's.  It is a flow class which means we are moving from one pose to another syncing with the breath. It is an overall body workout. The class begins with a short reading about being in the present moment and invites you to practice this while on the mat. The class ends with Nadi Sadhana breath technique which calms the body and mind.

Hatha Flow With The Theme: Be Present

In this 45 minute video you will learn two rules to stretch properly to gain maximum flexibility and prevent injury. The first 15 minutes explains the two rules, the other 30 minutes is a Flexibility Training session focusing on the hamstrings (back of the legs).

How To Stretch and Gain Flexibility

This 60 minute yoga practice focuses on opening the hip joints creating more space and flexibility.  The sequence includes intermediate postures such as Warrior I and II, Crescent Lunge and Standing Hand To Foot holding the postures for extended periods of time. It is appropriate for intermediate as well as seasoned yogi's who are interested in opening the hips.
